How it works

Vera is a chat, not an app. Here is what a training day actually looks like, message by message.

1. She sends the session

On a training day, you open the chat (or she reminds you at a time you chose) and today’s session is waiting. It follows the program she built with you at onboarding — proven templates like full-body, upper/lower, or a dumbbell plan for home.

Upper A today. 1. Bench press — 3×8 @ 80 kg 2. Barbell row — 3×8 @ 70 kg 3. Incline DB press — 3×10 @ 24 kg 4. Lat pulldown — 3×10 @ 55 kg Say the word when you're at the gym.

2. You talk, she logs

This is the part that makes Vera different. Between sets, you hold the mic button and say what you did. Chalky hands, sweaty screen, headphones in — none of it matters. You never type numbers into a form.

“Bench, eighty kilos, eight reps.”
Logged — Bench 80 kg × 8. Two sets to go.
“Same again.”
80 kg × 8. One more.
“Only got seven, that was heavy.”
Logged — Bench 80 kg × 8, 8, 7. Next time: 82.5 kg.

She understands how people actually talk about training:

  • Shorthand— “eighty by eight, eight, seven” logs three sets at once.
  • “Same again”, “as prescribed”, “done” — she fills in the numbers from your plan.
  • Effort notes— “that was a grind” or an RPE if you use them; it feeds into her decisions.
  • Corrections— “actually that third set was 82.5” fixes the log in place.

If a voice note is ambiguous — a mumbled weight, background noise — Vera asks before she writes anything down. She never silently guesses, because a wrong logged weight would corrupt your progression for weeks.

3. She decides what you lift next

After each session, Vera updates your numbers using established progression rules — the same linear and double-progression methods a good coach applies. Hit your reps, the weight goes up by a sensible increment. Miss them twice, she takes ten percent off and builds you back up. Every change comes with a one-line reason, because an unexplained weight drop feels like a bug.

This part is deliberately not left to the AI’s imagination. The model listens and explains; deterministic rules decide the weights.

When the gym doesn’t cooperate

“Bench is taken, there's a queue.”
Swap to dumbbell bench — 3×10 @ 30 kg per hand. Same movement pattern, your progress carries over.

Machine taken, no squat rack, a shoulder that complains — tell her and she substitutes an equivalent movement, carries your working weight across, and keeps the session moving. If something hurts, she adjusts around it and will tell you to see a professional rather than play physiotherapist.

What about your voice notes?

Voice notes are transcribed on our own servers in Europe — they are never sent to a third-party transcription service — and the audio is deleted after 30 days. The transcript stays in your training log. More in the privacy policy.
